About Me

Academics

I take great pride in my academics. As a full-time student at Clemson University, I work daily to learn as much as I can and expand my educational horizons. I have now completed three semesters of courses in disciplines ranging from engineering to religion, all while maintaining a 4.0 GPR.

In high school, I was similarly focused on my studies. Over the course of my work at Summerville High school, I received four academic letters. In addition, I graduated ranked number 4 in a class of over 700 graduating seniors and was awarded a National Merit Scholarship.

Athletics

My primary athletic forte is Tae-Kwon-Do, the South Korean martial art. Currently, I hold the rank of 3rd degree black belt, as recognized by the Kukkiwon, Tae-Kwon-Do's world governing body.

In addition to the skills I learned for promotion testing, I also have competed in the state, national, and international arenas. I have won several South Carolina state titles, have qualified for and competed at three national tournaments, and represented the United States at the 2005 U.S. Open.

Church

I am an active member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church in North Charleston. At Cokesbury, I serve as part of the technology team. In addition, I am beginning to take part in an overhaul of the church's print and electronic communications, starting with a new logo and wordmark, designed by me. At my former church, St. Andrews Parish United Methodist, I was head of the audio-visual department, served actively on the finance and lay leadership committes, held a seat on the administrative council, and was actively involved with youth ministry.

Beyond the level of the local church, I had the honor of touring with the Spirit Singers, South Carolina's United Methodist Youth Choir. The group of about 40 members toured churches throughout the state, and ended with a weeklong tour of Italy, where we were given the honor of singing in both the Cathedral in Florence and St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican.

Community Service

Each summer, I spend a week in Huntersville, NC, helping to rebuild homes of people too poor to maintain their properties. From replacing roofs and foundations to repairing walls and floors, the people in the Salkehatchie Summer Service program serve both the community and God. This year will be my sixth summer helping with this mission. You can read my reflections about Salkehatchie in my blog. Closer to home, I have routinely volunteered at the Crisis Ministries homeless shelter.
