Bass Talk, Volume 1

Now that I have played the bass for a couple of days, I feel compelled to describe my experiences to all of you loyal readers.

In short: It's really hard.

In long: It's really hard.

I suppose the long explanation wasn't any longer, was it? I still have a long way to go until I can play anything even remotely difficult. I have only "mastered" like 2 songs, where "mastered" is defined as being able to usually hit most of the notes sort of well. Ish.

Any tips for improvement are greatly appreciated.

Mr. Flake,
I have some advice that may advise you well on your bass playing experiences. Take lessons. I know this guy that is pretty good. His name is Ryan Mello. You should look him up, as I am sure he would be of great help. Congrats. on the mastery of two songs and keep up the grueling work, for I am sure that in your hands, that bass will one day rock.

woah! props to you for actually going through with this. My dad mentioned the other day as to my learning bass this summer, and I mentioned that you were already doing it, so I was thinking of taking up drumming, to which he replied: "Well, at least with bass, you just barely qualify as an actual musician!"

In any case, rock on.

Hey, I think I know that Ryan guy! Except I thought he was a tambourine teacher.

Maybe you should try a trout instead.
