Competency Requirements

AH 1 Develop an understanding of the history and cultural contexts of the arts and humanities.

This essay, written for REL 101 (Introduction to Religion), looks at the ways in which a society's rituals define their religion. The focus of the paper is Dinah, a character in the Biblical book of Genesis and Anita Diamant's The Red Tent. Societal expectations within their historical backdrop shaped the Hebrew culture and religion.

AH 2 Examine the arts and humanities as expressions of the human experience.

My British Literature course (ENGL 213) studied works of literature from the ancient to the modern. Each work not only revealed the experiences and imaginations of the author, but also provided commentary on the world in which they were written. Most importantly, these works revealed that the human experience is a shared experience, transcending time and space. This document is a journal descibing the class exercises and my personal reflections on each work we read and discussed.

AH 3 Experience and evaluate productions of the performing and visual arts.
