Competency Requirements

EJ 1Demonstrate knowledge of what ethics is and is not, its relation to academic integrity and its importance as a field of study.

As part of my freshman composition course (ENGL 103), we studied academic integrity, looking especially at Clemson's integrity policy. After a class discussion, groups of students applied what we learned about the serious ramifications of any unethical behaviors and composed a pledge of academic integrity. This document is my group's pledge, showing our concensus about the importance of the topic.

EJ 2Demonstrate understanding of common ethical issues and construct a personal framework in which ethical decisions can be made in a systematic, reflective and responsible way.
